How to Delete Your Search Engine History (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo) – 2025 Guide

Tired of your search engine remembering everything you’ve ever typed?
This post shows you how to permanently delete your search history — not just in your browser, but from the search engines themselves.
If you’ve ever searched “how to delete my search history,” congratulations — you’re in the right place. This is Post #2 of our 5-part series on reclaiming your digital footprint.
🌐 Wait… What’s the Difference Between Browser & Search Engine History?
Let’s make this easy.
Thing You Type | Stored Where? |
---|---|
Website URLs | Browser history |
Search terms (Google) | Google account |
Auto-suggestions | Both browser + search engine |
So:
✅ You cleared your browser — but your Google account might still know everything you’ve searched for… even years ago.
Let’s delete it, for real.
🧼 Google: How to Delete Search History
Google stores your search history at myactivity.google.com — if you’re logged in, they’re tracking everything. Here's how to wipe it:
💻 On Desktop
Go to https://myactivity.google.com/, there are two obvious entries:

Click Delete > Choose a time range (on your choice):
- 🔘 Last hour
- 🔘 Last day
- 🔘 All time
- 🔘 Custom range ✅
Then, make sure you select Chrome, Discover, Google Lens, Image Search, Search, or any other you want.

Confirm, and Delete

📱 On Mobile (Google App)
- Open the Google App
- Tap your profile picture > Search history
- Tap Delete > Pick time range (on your choice)
- Choose activity to delete, you may notice there're less products to select, especially Chrome.
- Confirm and Done.

💡 Pro Tip:
Since that Chrome is the more important search entry, I strongly recommend that you visit https://myactivity.google.com/ directly with Chrome from your mobile phone, just process like the desktop version described above.
🔍 Bing: How to Delete Bing Search History
Yes, people still use Bing — and it stores search history if you're logged into a Microsoft account.
💻 On Desktop or Mobile
- Visit https://www.bing.com/profile/history
- Click Clear all next to “Search History”
- Confirm, and Done.

🦆 DuckDuckGo: Wait… Do I Even Have a History?
Good news if you’re privacy-paranoid:
DuckDuckGo doesn’t store your search history on their servers.🔥
But your device might still store it locally — especially in the browser.
🛡 Bonus: Set Up Auto-Delete (Google)
If you're a regular Google search user, turn on auto-deletion:
- Go to Google My Activity
- Click Web & App Activity
- Tap Auto-delete
- Choose: Delete activity older than → ✅ 3/18/36 months
⚡ TL;DR
Search Engine | Delete From | Easy Link |
---|---|---|
myactivity.google.com | ✅ Supports auto-delete | |
Bing | bing.com/profile/history | ✅ One-click clear |
DuckDuckGo | No account tracking | ✅ Fire away |
